Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it. Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit.
A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:
There are two big clues here. One that the way is narrow and few will find it. And that you will know a tree by it's fruit. The latter sounds logical for an apple tree for example will give you apples and oranges from an orange tree. But what this tree is talking about is the difference between a good tree and a bad tree. I guess the odvious question is what is a bad tree? And further more what is a good tree?
Jesus gives a warning in verse 19 that every tree that bringeth forth not good fruit is hewn down and cast into the fire.
First let us find out what that narrow path is. There are many Christians under the impression that it's okay if we differ in our beliefs as long as we are all Christians. This is a false teaching. There is only ONE way.
I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called, With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love; Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. There is ONE body, and ONE Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; ONE Lord, ONE faith, ONE baptism, ONE God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.
The Key word in this lesson is ONE; there is only ONE way. I have before wondered about baptism. For in scripture we find two different baptisms one in Matthew 28:19, and one in the book of Acts 2:38, Acts 10:48, Acts 19:5, Romans 6:3.
How could there be two when in Ephesians 4:5 we are told there is only one baptism. This was so important that in Acts 19:1-6 we find people that were baptized by John the baptist being re-bapitzed in the name of Jesus. As you have noticed by my earlier blogs I am proclaiming that the name of the father, and of the son, and of the Holy Ghost is Jesus Christ. Which is why the apostles who were all present with Jesus on the day he said those words recorded in Matthew 28:19 obeyed him by baptizing all through the book of Acts in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins.
I am sorry I keep going on about this, but this is that important. Satan has slipped a lie into Christianity that simply confessing or accepting the Lord Jesus as saviour will save your soul.
Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is likened unto a man which sowed good seed in his field: But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way. But when the blade was sprung up, and brought forth fruit, then appeared the tares also. So the servants of the householder came and said unto him, Sir, didst not thou sow good seed in thy field? from whence then hath it tares? He said unto them, An enemy hath done this. The servants said unto him, Wilt thou then that we go and gather them up? But he said, Nay; lest while ye gather up the tares, ye root up also the wheat with them. Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn.
I agree that the minimum requirment of knowlegde is to believe beyond the shadow of doudt that Jesus Christ is the son of God, that entitles you to be baptized. But what in fact does it mean that he is the son of God, but that he is God manifest in the flesh. In Acts Chapter 8 beginning at verse 26 the bible tells us of an ethiopian euncuh that was reading the book of Isaiah. The Lord prodding him, Philip walked close to his chariot and asked what he was reading and offered to tell the eunuch in whom the prophet was talking. We don't know what he said to him, but we do know what happend next.
And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized?
Nothing was said here of accepting the Lord Jesus as his savior, but Philip does answer the question.
And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him.
If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. Believing then is what allows us to be saved, but baptism is what saves us.
I PETER 3:18-21
For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit: By which also he went and preached unto the spirits in prison; Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water. The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ:
Mankind has replaced baptism with a sinners prayer, but God has not ordained this, but he has ordained baptism. The apostles did not command people to say a sinners prayer, no, but they did command believers to be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sin. It even says what baptism is for in Acts 2:38, it's for the remsission of sins.
Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:
Jesus was very clear about the importance of baptism,
Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born? Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
I am going to say this I believe that those that say all you need to do is believe, or those that believe that you should be baptized repeating the words I baptize you in the name of the father, and in the name of the son, and the in the name of the Holy Ghost, unless they say which is the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, they are giving you bad fruit.
Teaching false doctrine is sin, believing false doctrine is believing a lie. Ane the scriptures are clear if we have not a love for the truth .
II THESSALONIANS 2:10-12
And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.
False doctrine is unrighteousness.
God is calling all those sincere believers out of Babylon the great and all ther false teachings.
And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues. For her sins have reached unto heaven, and God hath remembered her iniquities.
What then shall we do?
Repent and be baptized everyone of you in the NAME of Jesus Christ for the REMISSION OF SINS and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. (ACTS 2:38)
I TIMOTHY 6:1-5
Let as many servants as are under the yoke count their own masters worthy of all honour, that the name of God and his doctrine be not blasphemed. And they that have believing masters, let them not despise them, because they are brethren; but rather do them service, because they are faithful and beloved, partakers of the benefit. These things teach and exhort. If any man teach otherwise, and consent not to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness; He is proud, knowing nothing, but doting about questions and strifes of words, whereof cometh envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings, Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself.
A WARNING FROM THE APOSTLE PAUL about preaching anything except what was preached by the apostles themselves and Jesus Christ our Lord written in the pages of the Holy Bible, not what is preached by men today.
I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ. But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. As we said before, so say I now again, if any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed. For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ.
Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.
Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity
.II TIMOTHY 4:1-5
I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom; Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all long suffering and doctrine.
For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables. But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry.
